Student Publications

The following is a selection of active publications at Williams.

The Williams Record

The Williams Record, founded in 1885, publishes the College’s only weekly newspaper. It focuses particularly on issues pertaining to the campus and provides a forum for people to express viewpoints through opinions pieces and letters. The Record covers news, sports, and arts events on campus and has a features section that highlights various college-related people, places, and events. The newspaper is published every Tuesday with the exception of holidays and during reading periods and exams.

Off The Record

OTR  is a creative magazine that seeks to publish creative pieces by students in print once a semester. Published pieces include works of creative writing such as poetry, micro-fiction, creative nonfiction, and fiction, personal essays such as non-fiction and memoir-styled essays; visual art such as photography, drawings, or graphic art; and other work such as recipes, playlists, advice, etc.  If you’d like to submit, please see the submission page for more information or contact Maya Jacobs (mjj2), Editorial Director.

The Williams Literary Review

The Williams Literary Review is the campus’s oldest literary publication. It accepts submissions of student art, poetry and prose for each semester’s issue. All work is reviewed anonymously by the entire staff. They are dedicated to putting out a high quality magazine, both in content and form, and they are particularly interested in expanding their coverage of the fine arts. Once submissions are received, the staff meets regularly to select material for publication, giving each submission the attention it deserves. The staff invite anyone interested in art or running a magazine to join the staff, and encourage the entire campus to submit their work for publication. Contact [email protected] with any questions.
