Student Committees

English Department Majors Committee

The Majors Committee, a group of 7-8 majors chosen from self-nominations, represents the concerns of student majors to the Department and assists in the important jobs of hiring and program-planning. A sub-group of two or three students from the Majors Committee, also chosen from self-nominations, sits on the Department’s Curriculum Committee and represents the interests of student majors in the important job of curricular review and assessment.

Selection Process: All majors receive a letter from the Department Chair early in the fall semester inviting self-nominations. Final selection is made by the Department.

Senior Peer Advisors

Two senior Peer Advisors are chosen by the Department from recommendations of the Majors Committee. Peer Advisors offer advice and counseling on course selection and the major in general to majors and prospective majors.
